![]() Sutton is blessed with a wealth of historical buildings and landmarks. Such links to earlier times are unusual throughout the towns of modern day New Hampshire.
Your contributions are essential to help restore our historic meetinghouse and maintain the numerous historical buildings owned and managed by the Sutton Historical Society. Funds raised will help complete a generous matching grant from the New Hampshire Land and Community Heritage Investment Program (LCHIP) to restore the aging South Sutton Meetinghouse. |
Meetinghouse Project 2The Sutton Historical Society has received its second Land and Community Heritage Investment Program (LCHIP) grant award toward completion of the exterior renovation of the iconic South Sutton Meetinghouse. The Society is awarded a $20,000 matching grant to address the remainder of the exterior restoration, including repair of clapboard siding, trim and shutters, and painting the remaining restored building exterior. SHS received its first LCHIP matching grant in 2019 to help restore the three-stage meetinghouse tower topped by a four-sided dome, along with improvements to dated lightning protection identified in a 2019 historic building conditions assessment. Delayed by the pandemic, the first phase was completed in the late fall of 2021.
